A Seaside Stay in a Swansea Hotel for All the Family

Visit the famous Gower Peninsula in Wales and stay in a Swansea hotel in the seaside city of Swansea. Situated on the sandy south west coast, Swansea is a lovely place for a family holiday or a romantic break. The beaches around Swansea have soft golden sands where the children can build sandcastles and play in safety, and swimmers can bathe in the waters safely, as there is often a seasonal life guard. Not surprisingly some of the beaches in the area have been voted the best in Britain and this means that a Swansea hotel is one of the best places to stay for a family holiday. The Waterfront in Swansea has a five mile sweep of bay, and there is a children’s lido and a leisure pool available. There is also the Swansea Bay Rider which is a brightly coloured children’s train which runs along the promenade – a delight for the little ones. Another activity for children is the Discovery Centre where children can observe and learn about the local wild life, which if you are lucky may include some of the dolphins which occasionally can be seen playing in the bay. Afterwards, learn more about everyone’s favourite, chocolate, at the Chocolate Factory, where you can both see it being made and sample some afterwards. For the adults, after you have returned to your Swansea hotel, you will be ready for a night on the town. Many bars and cafes have live music. The majority of city bars are situated on Wind Street, in the city centre. The Mumbles Mile has lots of pubs, while for night clubs Kingsway is usually your best place to go. The city of Swansea also has two casinos, so there is plenty for grownups as well as the children. Swansea is excellent for water sports of all types. For swimming, apart from the beaches there is an Olympic size swimming pool near the University, and there is also the LC, at the Maritime Quarter, a c leisure complex that has a wave making machine, an artificial beach, a children’s paddling area and Europe’s only indoor surfing centre so it is perfect for a rainy day. Outside the waters in Swansea bay are usually calm which makes them ideal for water sports of all types. Ask in your Swansea hotel for details of kayaking, dinghy sailing and powerboats, as these are all readily available. In one or two of the bays, the waves provide ideal conditions for surfing.
