@ravcampbell – This wasn’t recorded during a Journey performance. Pineda was simply singing a cover song. Before his joining Journey (Dec 2007), Pineda had success with a band he fronted called The Zoo, who often covered Journey, Survivor, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, and other pop rock acts. Videos began appearing on YouTube in Feb 2007. June 2007, Journey’s Neal Schon contacted Pineda via e-mail inviting him to audition for Journey. Dec 2007, Pineda was announced as the lead singer of Journey.

Did Mr. Pineda get permission from Steve Perry to sing this song? After all this song is from Steve Perry’s solo album and not from a Journey album.
Like others said he’s not trying to be Perry. He’s just a great singer who is the head singer of Journey.
What’s up with all you bitter Perry fans? You’re just like Steve Perry. Cocky and bitter to the end. Arnel allows us to hear the greats of Journey for another decade at least and he’s DAMN GOOD. Hell Journey is one of my favorite bands of all time and I almost prefer Arnel anyways. Regardless Arnel is every bit as good as Perry and people need to stop bad mouthing the guy. He’s a great guy who came from nothing and worked his ass off.
Pineda, is just doing covers sooner or latter he needs to take the band to a different level. We enjoy the covers since we can not have SP. Maybe get SP to write some songs for the band. If they are in good terms.
I think he did a great job, he’s amazing and i think he’s making his own version not trying to match Steve Perry. . . . 2 thumbs up for Arnel. .
