Does anyone know the song that appears in most of the cape wrath/meadowlands episodes?

It has a female vocalist and is quite pop.
It has some lyrics like “di di da” sounds really dumb but thats all i know!!!
I cant find out what it is anywhere. The song also appears in the film Alfie with jude law in the scene where he and susan sarandon are drinking absinthe in her hotel room. Please help as its really annoying me!

   “The Beat Goes On” by the Buddy Rich Big Band, the female vocalist was 12 years old (a daughter of buddy rich)
   when the song was recorded
