Finding the right tour in Puerto Rico for the Bioluminescent Bay?

I will be going to Puerto Rico on Feb 9th of this year. My boyfriend and I already booked our flights and hotel from wed the 9th till sun the 14th. We want to go smiming in the bio bay in Vieques but do not want to stay the night there. From what im seeing there is no tours that start in the late evening that will allow us to go back to San Juan at the end of the tour. If anyone has any insight please help!

First thing you need to do is check the moon calender. There needs to be no moon or only a small moon in order to see the water. Next thing is no, you will not be able to return to San Juan the same day. The tour is late, it’s the best time to see the waters. From memory I believe the ferry’s last trip to the mainland is 6pm, And it appears that the last flight is around 6:30pm. You can get out as early as 6am, although I found taxi driver reluctant to come get us that early, and we got out by 8:30am. Taxis are real cheap in Vieques, only $2p/p no matter where you go. And there is affordable accommodations available (banana’s for example). Even a campground, if you guys have a lightweight tent you could take along.

The other post is correct. To do this tour you will NOT meet the last ferry off of Vieques island .
I can tell you it is TOTALLY cool !. Keep in mind to get a taxi to the port at Farado will take about an hour each way and run you $ 60 each way.
I explain it as swimming in a Coca Cola that is lit up with black lights – just cool !
You will need to get from the ferry over acoss the island to Esperanza. It will take about 20 minutes at most. Taxi can take you – maybe $ 10 .
Grab a beer on the small board walk – maybe Bananna’s and catch the sunset – great spot for it !
Ask around and you should find a room for the night – ask the bartender or waiter .
The Bio tour is maybe a 1/2 mile up on the left ( from Bananna’s )- They post the time of the tours on a sign on the fence. No one comes until about 30 minutes before the tour.
