On a whim, my boyfriend and I are going to Cape Cod this weekend. Neither one of us has ever been there before. Anyone have any tips on hotels, restaurants, hot spots to visit? Many thanks!

Quintessential Cape Cod is the scenic route running through the northern coast from Barnstable to Orleans – filled with picture postcard places and beautiful inns – and from there to the Cape Cod National Seashore. Stay away from Yarmouth and the southern coast route.
. . . stop in Chatham. . . (Main St. ) Eat at the Chatham Squire. then head on out to Provincetown. . . Follow Rt#6 all the way out to the very tip of the Cape. . . get out to Race Point, maybe go on a Whale watch (off shore with the Whales). . . Bring Money ! enjoy !
You’ll be Ok for accommodation (you’re still a bit off season so the rates shouldn’t be to high) . . . but make sure you get out to Prvincetown. . . (The Original landing place of the Pilgrams)
you probably want to go to P-Town (provincetown)–that’ll be the liveliest even though this time of year is off-season–as loong as you’re not homophobe that is. .
hot spots:
race point beach
herring cove beach
if you have a 4×4 vehicle get an off road pass on the cape cod national seashore
get a fire permit and have a campfire on the beach at night
whale watches that leave out of p-town–although it might be too early for whales
