Help with San Francisco Bay area hotel under $150?

I’m a bit overwhelmed with the prospect of having to choose an affordable (yet decent) hotel in or near San Francisco. I’m looking for the following: $150 range, national chain like Holiday Inn, Doubletree, Hilton, Hampton, Embassy Suites, etc., free parking (I’ll have a rental car but don’t plan on using while in SF) and access to BART/trolleys (not sure how all of that works yet). A nice view of course is a plus but for $150, that may not be an option. I’m ok with staying in East Bay (maybe Berkeley) or south of SF as long as there’s a means of public transportation to and from SF.

Now, if anyone needs help with a hotel in Orlando, I know just the place — Animal Kingdom Lodge without a doubt!

I am Owner of a Travel Agency; therefore, I can more than likely answer this particular question. You mention $150; do you mean $150/night? Also, for how long? What dates did you have in mind? I am certain I can locate Hotels in SF(the city as opposed to the suburbs), all within close reach of public transportation.

Please visit: www. hotelres. com – you can pick and choose by any criteria you like, and they can even make the reservation for you. I use them all of the time for SF. Enjoy the City!

If you have a car, it’s probably best to avoid staying in San Francisco proper altogether. Even though this means no view, it’ll save you from a lot of stress. Parking is difficult AND will easily cost you $40. 00 a day at some hotels. The cops also love to hand out fines and there are lots of pedestrians. Some alternatives. . .

    Urban:

The Oakland Marriott City Center is a short walk from the 12th St. BART station. Easy to get around. It’s only a 10-12 minute ride to either San Francisco city center or Berkeley. Parking is abundant, but costs $15. 00 a day.

Embassy Suites, South San Francisco is close to a Caltrain commuter rail station (but not adjacent). It’s a short 15 minute ride, and the train will drop you off at 4th St. and King station near the baseball stadium. From there, you can transfer to the N-Line tram for the city center. Free parking.

Hampton Inn Daly City is 1/2 a mile away from the Daly City BART station. Daly City is 15 minutes from the city center.

    Suburban (further away):

Embassy Suites, Pleasant Hill is adjacent to a BART station. The train will get you to Union Square in the city center (Powell St. station) in 40 minutes. Free parking.

Holiday Inn Dublin is very close to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station. Free parking.

Both Hampton Inn and Best Western Hayward is less than a mile from a BART station as well. Free parking.

There are many other hotels/motels — too numerous to list, and I’m sure many of them are near freeways or trains as well. But hopefully this information will at least give you an idea.
