   shortterm/longterm? alone/sharing? house/ flat? renting/buying?

   just search accomodation cape town for shortterm options, gumtree. co. za for flat/house share and private property for houses/flats – be it to buy/rent. those are the cheapest options you have that will give you an idea of the going rates. no idea about the taxis, sorry. good luck!

   we visited in February and a bachelor flat cost us R180 each day — so it will be more right now and car hire was also R185 each day

   Taxi is R200+ to the centre of town.

   Backpacker accommodation from R90 per person per night. Guest house, bed and breakfasts and hotels are more, and usually charge a single supplement. R200 per night upwards at least.
