You could walk from Washington Street in downtown Boston to Back Bay in three minutes.

If you’re traveling by train, you have the option of stopping at South Station. It’s closer to Washington St, and as far as I know, the ticket price is the same. From South Station, It’s one stop on the Red Line (towards Alewife) to get to Downtown Crossing (Washington and Summer St).

It depends where on Washington the hotel is and where in the Back Bay you are going. Like someone has said, they’re right next to one another, so it probably is walkable, although the 3 minute estimate sounds a bit quick. If not, take the T(cheap and quick). If you give the hotel name and the exact destination, I could help you more.

Depending on where in Back Bay, it’s a 5-10 minute walk, or a couple of stops on the T (subway).

Go to maps. google. com and type in Back Bay Boston, MA. It will put you at the farthest wast end of back bay. Back bay extends all the way east to the Public garden. Keep scrolling east (right) and you’ll see Washington street on the other side of the park.

This whole area is very walkable and very pleasant.

Not much at all. It is only a mile or two at most actually, depending on where in the Back Bay you’re going, so it would probably cost you only between $5-8 at most. The taxi rates in Boston are regulated – they have to have meters displayed – and the rate is $1. 75 for the initial rate and it’s 30 cents for 1/8 of a mile (so $2. 40 per mile). More expensive than a lot of cities but again, it’s not very far at all that you would be going. You could also take the T (subway) or even walk if the weather is decent.
