Is Mandalay Bay a real place in the world?

Did the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino take their name and theme from another place like a city or an actual bay called mandalay bay.

   Mandalay is the second largest city in Burma. There used to be a song called “On the road to mandalay, where the. . . ” anyway, not sure if thats where they got the name for the hotel, but yeah, its a real place.

   As you can see from the map, no bay near Mandalay.

   Yes, it’s located in Oxnard, California.

   It’s a place in Burma or Myanmar. There’s an old poem or song which goes “On the road to Mandalay, where the flying fishes play, and the dawn comes up like thunder (something) China ‘cross the bay”

   Mandalay is a real place, and Mandalay Bay is a real hotel . I was full of expectations when that hotel opened but was dissapointed.

   Its not a bad place at all , there was just too much pre-opening hype that reality was not able to match.
