Hello Yahoo,
I am taking a small vacation to SF Bay area on Aug 1-Aug 7. I am looking for a hotel near the downtown, Fisherman’s Wharf/Chinatown area. What would be the best way to go about this? Where should I get the hotel?
I will not have a car, so prefer to take the Metro, Bart etc while in SF. I will be arriving from SFO and will may take the Bart to the Downtown area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’d also love travel destinations and any other recommendations.
Thanks for the responses, I am not looking for a high class hotel. This is a trip with a few college friends and I’ve seen on expedia.com rates as low as $70, but I am not sure where it is located. I would like to be located around Chinatown/Fishermans Wharf, a few miles off is alright as long as public transportation is available. I’d definitely weigh the options, if it’s only slightly more for a hotel in Chinatown I’d definitely go that route.

It really depends on your budget and what you prefer. saying that I would suggest using http://www. tripadvisor. com/
but when my friends/relatives come to visit they have varying taste. .
One friend likes being near the wharf by using the Holiday Inn San Francisco Fishermans Wharf.
My sister likes to stay at Renaissance Stanford Court, because it is relaxing.
My other sister likes San Francisco Marriott (on fourth street) because of the location near all the transportation.
Another friend likes to stay at the St. Regis Hotel.
We usually stay at either of the Holiday Inns –one at each end of the wharf area. They offer continental breakfast with your stay so that is a saving. Also if you join Priority Club get points good for free nights, etc. so that is another saving. The trolley is nearby or less than a block away to take you downtown, etc.
