any suggestions for motels/hotels near the aquarium? (3 miles radius) i plan to check in on 7/6/09 (1 night only) My budget is about 120 maximum. i want motel/hotel that has dining, shopping etc around it..preferably walking distance.

Most of the motels and hotels that I remember in Monterey are on Fremont Street (Avenue?), and I’m not sure how close that may be to the aquarium. I believe that www. motel6. com can get you some information about their properties in the area. .
I love the Portola Hotel & Spa. It is actually a bit of a walk from the aquarium, like 20-25 minutes, but there is a beautiful path on the cliffs overlooking the ocean which makes it such an enjoyable walk. It’s in the heart of the “city” like part of Monterey and very close to the pier with shops and restaurants. I recommend it!
