My family is originally from the Cape –
I want to suggest you book something right away because cottages and hotels fill up very very quickly and the later it gets in the season, the more expensive it will be.
There are two “sides” to the Cape.
There is the Bay side and the Ocean side
The water on the Bay side is warmer and more calm, the Ocean side is colder and more active.
You should call the Cape Cod chamber of commerce and have them send you some pamphlets and information because there is just SO much to do, you’ll have to pick and choose. Have them send you a list of hotels/motels too.
An indoor pool is a nice way to end the evening!
One of my favorite things to do with my kids is to visit the Cape Cod Railroad in Hyannis which is a nice train ride along the canal.
For a change of pace, drive to Provincetown and go on a whale watch, and make sure to shop Commercial street.
Dennis has beautiful dunes.
The beaches are all beautiful – some of them are rougher than others – Nauset Light beach is gorgeous and has a light house but the water can be strong.
Here is the website for the COC – there are links on there that can help you plan your vacation.
Good luck, and HAVE FUN. You’ll love it.

There are no reasonable prices on Cape Cod in the summer! If you want reasonable prices go in early June or late September
