I’m 17, I’m trying to plan a road trip with 3 of my friends to Cape Cod this July (most likely). My friends are 16, 17, and 18. I was planning to stay in Eastham, or somewhere close to Provincetown at least. Only because I’m most familiar with Eastham. I looked up hotels & motels & I’m leaning towards Midway Motel (http://www.midwaymotel.com/)
or Blue Dolphin Inn (http://www.bluedolphincapecod.com/) simply because of the prices.
I’ve only just started researching, I was wondering if there were any suggestions on places to stay, both towns and lodging, and if there are laws on age restriction for staying someplace without parents or anything. Also while we’re at it, ideas for things to do for our age group. I was just planning on seeing what we feel like when we get there, but please share any must sees or dos while we’re there ![]()
Oh, any any advice on the drive. I’m just going by Google Maps & my GPS. This is my first big drive. I forgot to mention it’s 6 hours for me. I have 2 friends with me to rotate shifts, but I’m open to any tips or tactics.
Thank you!
go to peggy’s cove, nova scotia. its beautifle there and i love it. so many light houses. im originally from london, ontario.
i would first check the age restrictions on your lodging before heading out. you may not be able to stay if under 21.
I hate to burst your bubble but most motels won’t rent rooms to anyone under 21 plus you will probably need a credit card to check in. I’m sure there are some exceptions but they may be hard to find on Cape Cod during the peak season.
You better call ahead and see what they require.
You’d probably be better off camping. There are some nice campgrounds on the outer Cape.
I live in Hyannis and I can tell you that most hotels would not rent to you.
21 is the age at most. Can’t tell you about these motels as its too far from me but July is peak season and rates are very high like 200 a night.
Ptown is small and there isn’t a lot to do for more that a few days and Eastham is also small and mostly just beaches. They do have a drive in in Wellfleet which is next to Eastham but still not to exciting for your age.
You could do a whale watch too. Really not great places for teens.
It’s a long drive for your first trip. Where are you coming from? The Jersey shore might be a better bet for you at this point if you are close to there. I looked at the youth hostel website and each person needs a valid drivers license.
You do know it’s going to be nuts here in July, right? (yes, I’m in Eastham) The price for the hotel room might be reasonable but everything else is going to set you back (gas is up to about $2. 50 a gallon today)
At your ages you really need to think this through. You might be able to have a great weekend away closer to home with better prices!!
