Sai Kung Town, located in the New Territories of Hong Kong is a refreshing refuge from the hustle and bustle of the everyday urban lifestyle. The town has its origins a century ago as a small fishing village which served as a well-situated point of gathering for fishermen and the villagers of the area.
Today Sai Kung has gained prominence as a haven for lovers of seafood, both local and expatriate. Extending on the borders of the waterfront in the centre of the town, Hoi Pong Square features an array of excellent seafood restaurants. The mesmerizing selection of fresh seafood displayed in the transparent tanks beside the restaurants is sure to tantalize the taste buds of the seafood connoisseur. The serene scenery of the waterfront makes an ideal backdrop for this delightful feast of the bounties of the sea. The area also boasts numerous western inspired restaurants and pubs which the traveller will wish to sample.
Sai Kung is also a fascinating place to explore, with quaint back lanes making a contrast to the modernity of urban Hong Kong. The scenic Tin Hau Temple is a popular destination for visitors.
