I just ran up to my hotel room after seeing it walking the beach. NASA’s site say’s nothing about it.

Can you clarify something . . .
Did you see a launch or just a rocket sitting on a pad?
Space. com is carrying a story about an Atlas V rocket that was due to launch around midday on Thursday with a pair of spy satellites for the US National Reconnaissance Office. The launch was scrubbed and a another try is slated for Friday.
I haven’t turned up any mentions of an afternoon or evening launch on the same day.
The Air Force has facilities on the Cape and they often launch top-secret missions with things like reconnaissance or GPS satellites. Those would most likely not get any mention on a NASA site and you would be hard-pressed to find any info on it anywhere else.
There is a launch of two NRO Ocean Surveillance satellites that was scheduled for June 15 at 11:04 Eastern time. I suppose it is possible (although unlikely) that they launched a half-day early.
The Atlas 5 launched at 11:12am today.
There are no secret launches, they are all announced. However, everything sent into space is not “NASA. ” This is a common misconception. Only those carrying NASA payloads (unmanned) and the space shuttle are NASA. The rest are sent up by the Air Force and may be commercial or military (todays was military).
