We’re going on a Las Vegas trip in a few weeks and are trying to decide on a hotel. We’ve narrowed it down to a few, but want to know if the money is worth it for these hotels and if they really are amazing to stay at. Let me know if you’ve stayed at the following and what your opinion is of them…
–Mandalay Bay
–MGM Grand
–Mirage
–Treasure Island
I know none of these are the most amazing hotels or anything, but we want to stay at a cheaper hotel so use our money elsewhere…Thanks!!
I stayed at treasure island and liked it alot. It was very clean and the people who work there were nice. It’s in the perfect location too ! I have no complaints about it !
Use Expedia or something. . The rates for different days change.
TREASURE ISLAND IS VERY NICE AND NOT OVER THE TOP LIKE MANY ARE. . . . . . .
Mirage stayed a couple of times right on strip nice rooms pricier than others but worth it
Sign up for their casino memberships and they send you discount deals. Check online for deals too. And if you call the concierge and ask what specials they have going, you may get the best deal of them all. Quality is about the same. And there are other hotels just off the strip or in downtown that are equal if not better for the price. My folks just got a night in Wynn’s newest for $120 and that included $100 in player cash for the casino. . .
try mirage or ti. . . mandalay bay charges OVER 12. 00 FOR A POT OF COFFEE. . . . . . MIRAGE IS NICE , THE BUFFET IS EXCELLENT ROOMS GORGEOUS. . . . . TI IS NICE TOO REASONABLE PRICES. . . SMALL POOL AREA HOWEVER. . .
These four hotels are actually the best you can get on the strip if money is an issue. Mirage and TI are more central on the strip. Mandalay Bay is a clean hotel with great service and great pool. MGM Grand has very nice rooms but it’s a very big hotel.
You can’t go wrong with any of them. There rates are also great if you use their discount promo codes. Here are some of the codes.

Honestly, if you want a nice, cheap hotel on the strip, try the Imperial Palace. (That’s right, no one’s ever heard of it).
My parents always stay in the mirage whenever they go to LV. They love it so much – the hotel decor, the dining, casinos, etc. However, when they took me to LV, I stayed at Mandalay Bay and loved it!
Mandalay Bay has a fantastic pool area that could keep you occupied for hours on end. The rooms are beautiful, and the service is great. It also has an in the hotel railway thing (I forget what it’s called) that takes you directly over to two other fantastic hotels. If you stay at Mandalay Bay, I definitely recommend visiting the aquarium – it’s one of the most amazing things I have ever seen!
Don’t stay in MGM unless the main purpose for you to be there is for the gambling. That’s truly the main attraction of the hotel.
Treasure Island is also not one of my top choices, though during your trip, I do recommend for you to take a look at the pirate show if they have one going on.
Have a great time in LV! Hope this helped!
Mirage — it’s right in the middle of the cool ones like Bellagio, Ceasar’s Palace, The Venetian, etc. We stayed at Harrah’s & it was the same situation – an unimpressive hotel in the middle of all the cool stuff.
I would recommend either Mandalay Bay or MGM Grand. Either hotel works, depending on what you’re looking for. Here are a few things to consider before you make your choice.
Location: Both MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay are located at the south end of the Strip. Mandalay Bay offers a free tram that connects to Luxor and Excalibur. You can also walk inside through connectors to access Luxor and Excalibur. MGM Grand has a Las Vegas monorail station, so you can easily hop on the monorail and access the rest of the Strip.
Atmosphere: Mandalay Bay has a more casual, laidback, and upscale atmosphere. MGM Grand has a similar atmosphere, but tends to cater toward a younger crowd. Either way, both resorts offer amazing service.
Accommodations: Both resorts have very nice rooms and suites that are nicely appointed. Mandalay Bay and The HOTEL at Mandalay Bay offer a variety of rooms and suites that have a south sea theme, while MGM offers a variety of nice accommodations, ranging from regular hotel rooms and suites, to West Wing rooms, SKYLOFTS, and high roller suites at The Mansion. They also offer nice suites at The Signature at MGM Grand. Whatever way you choose to go, you will find exceptional service and a helpful staff throughout the resort.
Dining: Mandalay Bay offers a number of different dining options, ranging from fine dining (MIX, Fleur de Lys, Aureole, China Grill, Shanghai Lily, Red Square, Trattoria Del Lupo, rumjungle, Rick Moonen’s RM Seafood, and STRIPSTEAK) to casual dining (Giorgio Ristorante, Border Grill, House of Blues, Burger Bar, Red, White and Blue, Verandah, Noodle Shop, the cafe, and the Bayside Buffet). MGM Grand offers similar options, with fine dining at Joel Robuchon, L’Atelier, CraftSteak, Fiamma, Nobhill, Shibuya, Seablue, and a couple other restaurants, along with casual dining at Emeril’s, The Grand Wok, Studio Cafe, Rainforest Cafe, the Buffet, Wichcraft, and the deli.
Nightlife: Mandalay Bay doesn’t have that much nightlife, while MGM has the Studio 54 Nightclub.
Entertainment: Cirque du Soleil “KA” You might also check their website at www. mgmgrand. com to see a listing of traveling shows that will be at their Garden Arena to see if something is there when you visit. Mandalay Bay offers Disney’s The Lion King, but you might also check their website at www. mandalaybay. com to see what traveling shows might be at their Events Center.
Gaming: Both resorts offer an array of gaming to suit anyone’s desires.
Other Amenities: Both resorts have nice spas and salons, along with fantastic pool areas. MGM’s Grand Pool Complex is absolutely fantastic, with a number of pools, hot tubs, and a lazy river. It is hard to beat the pool area at Mandalay Bay, with a wave pool with real sand, a lazy river, and other pools. They also offer a poolside casino. Mandalay Bay offers the Shark Reef Exhibit, while MGM offers the Lion Habitat exhibit. Finally, both resorts offer a few shops, even though the shops at Mandalay Place are nicer.
Neither resort is particularly smokey, although Mandalay Bay does a better job by infusing a coconut smell in its air conditioning. Also, few people notice, but Mandalay Bay turns the sound off on all their machines, so the casino is slightly quieter than others. Finally, the weather in April should be absolutely beautiful (pretty warm, but not overly hot). As a result, it would be a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors and especially the pool. While Mandalay Bay does have a fantastic pool, the pool at MGM is also very nice, so don’t make the pool your deciding factor.
Either way, you’re sure to have a wonderful trip to Las Vegas.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy your trip!
The prices changes daily so contact the hotel/casino directly thru their 800 number. Of those I loved Treasure Island, found Mirage average.
I stayed at Treasure Island and the location is great. It was in middle of the strip. And if you like shopping it was even better, the Fashion show Mall is right next door. The rooms are nice.
I haven’t stayed at the Mandalay bay because it is at the end of the strip not in the middle.
Go to a Motel 6.
MGM Grand is massive but really nice and a good location.
Mandalay Bay is in a not-so-great location but nice clubs and a cool wave pool.
Mirage and TI (Treasure Island) are right next door to each other and in a great location. I stayed at Mirage once and really like the pool, the staff, the rooms, the buffet, and the shows there too so Mirage is where my vote would be. . . .
